Makeup Haul: 1/19/2013

This morning I went on the hunt for a foundation for graduation, I managed to score L'oreal's Magic Lumi foundation for 70% off, which was crazy. I also plan to test a few more foundations before the 8th. I also got the color tattoo eyeshadow in Barely Branded, which I plan to use in my daily eyeshadow routine.

Until next time,

Fashion: Lunch Date

Lunch Date

Lunch Date by astonvilla7 featuring nars cosmetics

I would wear an outfit like this out to lunch with my boyfriend, as well as shopping. I love the mint jeans, and the temps here make it to where it isn't too crazy to wear a spring colour in January (bonus!). As for makeup I've selected what is basically my new daily look, which is simple and not too much like I spent a lot of time getting ready.

Fashion: Casual

Untitled #245

This outfit is perfect for running around town getting things together for my boyfriend and I to move in together. The only thing I would change is the shoes, I'd probably go for a flat in about the same colour.

I would probably attempt this for hair, with a nice light brown eye with a hint of orange-tan, and purple winged liner (trust me it's much cuter than it sounds!).

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

New Purchases: January 4th -11th

As my graduation from nursing school looms closer and closer I began to buy makeup for the occasion last week, while I had planned to recreate a look I had found on youtube that involved nudes, and purple gel liner.  I decided it was time to invest in the Naked 2 palette, and discovered that I actually needed the purple liner as well. One thing lead to another, and well... just look below. :)

The first few things I picked up were these palettes from Hard Candy, I had heard some good things about them and decided to give them a shot. I picked up Green With Envy, Pinking of You, Feelin' Blue, and Smoke Out. While I haven't worn any of these shadows yet, while I was swatching them I found them to be a bit chalky and some shades don't have that great of a colour pay off.

The only thing I really had on my list was the Naked palettes. I was torn between the first and second, and had planned to test them out in store before picking. I first tried my local Ulta, and was shocked to find out that they had neither palette in, but would 'maybe have it in the next day,' being the impatient person I am, I headed over to the Sephora at JcPenney's. Sephora of any degree is always a bit like a nerd heaven for me, I ADORE that store.  Luckily I spotted the display of Naked palettes, and headed over to check it out; they too were also out of the original palette, so I went with the second not really caring because I had seen gorgeous looks with both. Whilst shopping around I spotted the Smashbox 'Be Discovered' palette, the colours are gorgeous light shades in matte beige, pink, white, a taupe silver, medium brown, gold, ash brown, and lavender. Once I got up to the register I found out it was only $15 on sale, so I had to snatch that up figuring it would be a great work/school palette. As for the Wet n Wild palette, a youtuber featured the palette on a video, and it looked so gorgeous that I had to try it out.  I found out that it was a limited edition palette and EVERYONE seemed to be sold out, Ebay wanted almost $20 for it, which I would never do for a drugstore palette I knew wasn't even $10. Luckily I found a site that sold it for $5.99 so I snatched it up as well.

The final products I picked up were the e.l.f contouring blush & bronzer since I have yet to find my Nars Orgasm blush (it must still be packed up), and it looked like a decent dupe for it. I also got the eyebrow kit in medium, I usually use a nice medium matte brown shadow on my brows, but I just started to notice it looked HORRIBLE on me, I figured I'd try this one out before I moved on to the Tom Ford eyebrow pencil. I also picked up L'Oreal's Magic Lumi to test out on graduation night. The green pencil is Pixi's Eye Bright Liner, which is really just a nude pencil. I tried to hold out for a drugstore nude liner because I didn't want to spend almost $20 on something that has to be touched up several times a day, sadly I couldn't find it anywhere, it seems the Rimmel's nude isn't carried in stores here, and online it was sold out. So while I was at Target I cracked and grabbed it. I also picked up   Nyx's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha to go with the eyeshadow look I plan to do when I graduate, along with an eggplant purple gel liner from Maybelline, I absolutely LOVE their gel liners, I pretty much swear by them. I use my black as a liner on my water line for days where I want my liner to actually stick for longer than 30 minutes. The final thing I picked up this week was Too Faced's Shadow Insurance, I really wanted a refill of my UDPP in original but Sephora was out, and I didn't want to run back to Ulta, I figure I'll try this out and work from there.

Thanks for reading!

Introduction

Hi, and welcome to my blog! I am a twenty-six year-old soon to be nursing grad from sunny Florida, I started this blog as a way to keep track of different makeup looks I try, products I buy/like/dislike, along with other things like minor rants about school (I only have 20 days left!), my NCLEX, World of Warcraft, pets, and music as just a way to break up the overwhelming amount of makeup.

As for the name, I picked the name 'Lemon Drop Beauty' as an ode to one of my favourite book characters, Professor Dumbledore whom always seemed to have them in his office. The url is stylized as LemonGttBeauty as a play on the medical short hand for drop, which is gtt.

I hope you enjoy your time on this blog and come back soon.
